U-High Names Top Scholars Three seniors will lead the class of 379 in academic standings at graduation, according to Principal Jim Stickney. Brent Thordarson earned the coveted number one spot with Jill Blackwell and Donna Nic- ol close behind. Valedictorian and Salutatorian titles honor the stu- dents who have maintained the highest level of aca- demic excellence over their three years at University High. This year's winners were perfect examples of this - all three maintained a 3.9 G.P.A. or better over their three years. Named Valedictorian, Brent Thordarson plans to go to the University of Pudget Sound next fall. Brent main- tained a perfect 4.0 G.P.A. through his high school career. The Salutatorian award is shared by Jill Blackwell and Donna Nicol who both maintained a 3.97 G.P.A. to rank second in the class. These winners were chosen by their test scores on the National Merit Test. This year Sam Cathcart, Misty Carlson, and Craig Husa were winners ofthe local Elks Scholarships.
