Cprograms rovi e Jfal The Radio Club, sponsored by E. Wayne Gross, spent its time tinkering with tubes, crystal sets, and other electronic para- phcrnalia. The Typing Club primarily serves the needs of students who wish to learn typing but are un- able to schedule it as a class. Sophomore Phil Curry, junior Phil Karscll, and senior lilinbeth Yorn study the intricacies of ix l1nm radio set in the Radio Club. The Art Club, under the sponsorship of Charles Beal, was in charge of painting a mural for the Rec Room. The Future Nurses Club en- joyed a revival this year after a two-year absence from the club lists. Miss Marcella Knudson, school nurse, is sponsor of the band-aid and scalpel crew. Guiding the mass of wet clay into 3 work of .irt is freshman Robert Alexander. The piece of pottery is one of his Art Club projects.

OH the mat, on his way to a win by a decision. 66 o f e 79 :va cyor ,Joris .K The UHS wrestling team started the season this year with a new coach, Willitlm Garland. Coach Garland had the services of eight returning veterans as the nucleus of the squad. The Univees won their first three consecutive meets, and Hn- ished the season winning seven, losing four, and tieing one. The team placed sixth in the sectional, with senior Charles Bow- den placing third in the 165-pound class, and junior Kenny Webb winning the 175-pound division. Webb, however, was eliminated in the Hrst round of the State meet. ln a practice session the grapplers apply maneuvers like take-downs, sit out escapes, .md figure-four holds to their te.1min.1res. The junior High jazz Club rips through gi stock arrange- ment of an old standard during one of the monthly club sessions. The Chess Club, though still a relatively young club at U-School, enjoyed Wide popu- larity, Members vied for ranking with each other in the numerous tournaments during the year. The club also participated in some of the activities of the I.U. chess team, and Valdar Cinas, freshman, distinguished him- self by beating Al Horowitz, U.S. Open chess champion, in an exhibition tournament at I. U.. The junior High Dance Band, organized by Robert Hull, furnished music for the Junior High Dancing Club and various other functions.
