PER GRADUS Per Gradus our llterary socrety of the U H S 1 loved and held IH hrgh esteem by all who have had the prlvllege of reapmg the benefits lt bestows Per Gradus IS the oldest socnety on the campus belng organized ln l887 Per C-radxans true to the name of the society are bulldlng their founda tlon on rock step by step As a result they have a larger enrollment than last year numbermg sxxty strong ambltlous and loyal members Per Graclus glves to lts members tramrrv along llterary dramatlc and soclal lmes Several great debates were held one of which was also glven ID the Assembly We have shown a wonderful Grasp of Parllamentary Law as was demonstrated ln our Mock Trlal Nor drd our society lack m the softer touch of human rrt as our muslcal talent rendered many vocal and m trumental selectlons Our progress ve sp1r1t was hown by adoptmg everal lnnovatlons thus we rxse to fame Purple and gold were made our permanent colors Besldes thrs we had copxe of the constltutxon prlrted for each member and also a bulletln case for our programs made by the Manual Tramlng depart ment Each month the members enyoyed a plea ant soclal hour Durlng the last quarter of the school year the members had the prrvxlege of attendmg a formal banquet glven at the Hotel Frederrck wlth all the c remonles and formalltles belongmg thereto Towards the close of the year a pxcnlc rs glven dl playmg all the reasons why we should be glad to be alive The star that each Per Cradlan strrves to wln lS the Thomas medal whrch IS awarded each year by vote of the soclety to the member who has hown the most lmprove ment m debate and oratory MISS Ruth ol-mson has obtalnecl the honor of recexvlng the Thomas Medal and the soclety IS to be congratulated on awardlrvg It to one so worthy of the honor Should we the members of Per Cradus lxve to be ore hundred and our footsteps falter with the burden of the ages we shall always cherish and respect the memory of Per Gradus '29 .
