CLASS PROPHECY Oh how I look back to those good old days when I was a Senlor rn the Unlverslty Hrgh School' My puplls of Fargo Hlgh School remlnded me many a day of those pleasant tlmes and even though fifteen years have passed SIDCC then It seems but yesterday that we the class of I9 were reproved by our teachers for coming occaslonally unprepared to class I boarded the tram whlch was to carry me home for my summer vacatxon Suddenly a famlllar laugh broke on my ear On lookmg ln the dxrectlon from whence lt came I beheld a klnd rather drgmfled looklng lady srttmg just across the axsle from me She was none other than Alice Kops the same dlgnlfied Alice of I9l9 We then related our various expernences Allce men tlonlng among other thlngS that she had been teachlng at the Nlayvllle Normal for the past five years and was now homeward bound We decided to stop at the Unlversxty for a couple of days to renew old acquamtances and see what changes had taken place The U was stlll rn SCSCIOD and groups of students could be seen strolllng all over the campus ust as we approached Mann Hall my compamon nudged my arm and said Why lf that lsn t Field coming out of Mun I had hardly trme to look up before he was by our slde shakmg hands as lf we had met but yesterday Doc Fleld as the students called hlm had become a noted psychologist at the Unlverslty As our conversatlon turned to the class of I9 Professor Fleld Informed us that several of that class were no J Instructors at the University Ted Cook the popular basket ball captam of former days was now the Dlrector of Athletlcs and proved a great success Carleton Ladd now a professor had succeeded hls father ln h s profes IOP At the head of the Home Economics department we found Nora orgenson where she trams the young glrls ln the art of cooklng We were very glad indeed to find that our cla smates had fared so well and upon expresslng the wish that we could know the fate of each and all of them Professor Field convlnced us that rt was posslble by hypnotlsm that our astral bodles could go ln splrlt to the remotest corner of the world My compamon and I now gllded through the atmosphere and soon found ourselves outside a large buxldmg In a well furnlshed ofhce a middle aged man sat assortmg varlous letters and documents On one of these documents we read The Red Rlver Power Company Superintendent Leon Brown We now passed from this bullclxng and soon found ourselves ln the Court House Suddenly our attentlon was focused on the Judge whom we recog nlzed as Howard Paulson He had a very thoughtful look on hrs face and well he mxght for would not the welfare of two of his old classmates depend on his Judgment3 Here was a case requxrmg a careful d CIQIOD Eva Earl now Mrs Belyea was sumg oy for a dlvorce We now departed curlous to see some more of those Nmeteeners Havlng wandered for a long time we found our elves ln the streets of New York A crowd of fashlonable people were pourmg lnto a larve church We curiously entered Presently a weddmg march was played and the brlde and groom came up the alsle The small stature of the bride caught our attentlon To our surprlse the bride and groom were Ethel Cole and Leo Cosgrlff A the mlnlster arose to perform the ceremony we recognlzed Archle ohnstone The weddlng over we hastened on our Journey As we flltted past the First National Bank of that clty a glance thru a wrndow revealed the famxllar face of Clarlce Slmpson now presldent of that bank 10 9 I , - . 1 1 9 , ' .. ,. . . . , , K ' u . , - , . . - , , . c C . , M . . . , . . - , n.
