In league play, fhe Warriors were de-
feafed only by Fairfax and Hollywood, fhe
Colonials fopped Uni fwice, by margins of
5I-48 and 40-37, and fhe Redshirfs did
likewise, 56-34 and 53-23.
The highlighfs of fhe league season oc-
curred in bofh L.A. games. In fhe firsf
meefing fhe Warriors won 35-34, as Herb
lsono sanlc a iump shof in fhe Iasf 20 sec-
onds of play. lsono, Cox, and Sf. Clair led
fhe scoring wifh I2, 7, and 6, respecfively.
In 'rhe second game, Uni mainfained a
sfeady lead fo win 42-37. lsono was all
over fhe floor, as he scored I7 poinfs.
Wifh fhe close of fhe- league season, fhe
Warriors wenf info fhe All-Cify fourna-
menf wifh a minus rafing. In fhe opening
game wifh Marshall, Uni won by a 56-45
margin. J o h n Carver and Herbie lsono
each scored II poinfs. Bob Cox and Jim
Sf. Clair followed wifh IO. Nexf on fhe
Warrior Iisf was Narbonne, Easfern Ma-
rine league champs. Uni pulled a surprise,
winning 39-37, as Cox scored I6 poi-nfs,
swishing in hook-shofs from all sides.
In fhe semi-finals, Uni bowed fo Jeffer-
son's cify c h a m ps, buf nof wifhouf a
hard-foughf baffle. Behind 30-I5 af half-
fime, fhe Warriors sfaged an incredible
rally, pulling up fo wifhin 9 poinfs of fhe
Democrafs. Af fhis poinf, a missed layup
foiled Uni, and Jefferson wenf on fo win
58-42. Leading 'rhe Warriors were Herb
lsono wifh I3, Denny Boren wifh IO, and
John Carver wifh 9.

fhe season was Capfain Herb lsono. His
all-round play made him indispensable,
and caused him fo be selecfed for firsf-
sfring All-Wesfern, and second sfring All-
Ci-'ry honors. Guard John C a rv e r was

for his sparkling defensive play.

ning, fhe Warriors sfaged an uphill rally fo win 7-5 on lasf inning RBl's by Len Swarfz and Dick Sassara.
Sassara led fhe club in baffing wifh a .357 average, and was selecfed for an ouffield berfh on

Heading fhe pifching sfaff for fhe fhird year was Herb lsono, who wasifhe only hurler able fo
fame Dorsey affer 29 wins in a row. Lonnie McKellar 2-0, Bob Cox I-2, and Bud Darling I-I, made up
fhe resf of fhe pifching crew.
The infield was manned by Phil Murray, Johnny Lugo, Rudy Heredia, and Jerry Legge, and fhe-
ouffield consisfed of Dick Sassara, Jack Callahan, Roger de Laix, and Leo Larsen. Ufilify men we-re Arf
