FALL OFFICERS First row: Louis Ruiz, Mark Hurford, Mr. Moore Second row: Miss Albers, janet Palmer, Betty Williams, lackie Fischer SPRING OFFICERS First row: Louis Ruiz, Frank Loy, Miss Albers Second row: Ellsworth Clark, Bill Sawyers, Nancy Van- Gorder, Mr. Moore Cvntinentqln lntroducing their sophisticated theme, the Continentals doffed top hats to the student body on their first field day when they bowed in defeat to their predecessors, the Carousels, by a score of 5 to O. The next event on the agenda was the Senior Prom honoring the departing Senior A's. The Continentals, using their ingenuity, came forth with original decorations in the circus theme, and the dancers were delighted by red and white streamers, a mound of balloons that cascaded from the ceiling, and clever caricatures of the leaders of both classes. On Color Day, the student body was en- tertained for an evening in the Club Conti- nental, as the management presented vocal, dance, instrumental, and comedy numbers. The highlight of the show was the finale when the entire cast came forth, surrounded by l5O seniors. The presentation of the song was accompanied by dozens of royal blue streamers thrown into the audience, and the student body enthusiastically applauded as Peggy Kilburn, dressed in a royal blue formal, took her place as queen of Color Day. Even though they were unable to obtain sweaters, the Sophisticates persisted in pre- senting their colors on Field Day, wearing in- dividually chosen sweaters. They lost Field Day to the Khalifs 4 to l, but never-the-less came through with sporting spirit. The Senior A's danced under soft lights as they were honored by the Khalifs at their prom in the Club Continental. One of the features originated by the Senior B's was a smooth Royal Blue Room , where hosts and guests drank cokes and took time out from their dancing. - Craduation came in january, and as the last member of the class walked out of the audi- torium to the traditional commencement med- ley, underclassmen and faculty watched with regret the closing for the last time of the door to the Club Continental. Spring President, Ellsworth Clark Fall President Mark Hurford
