In September of i944 Miss Katharine Reed succeeded Mrs. Force, who was the sponsor of the newspaper for twelve years. Formerly a Chieftain adviser in '4l and l42, Miss Reed still trains students to pass English A exams. The fall of '43 saw Mr. Elmer King in charge of the printing department. l-le succeeded james Hallock, snowy-haired favorite of long standing. Mr. King met the war-emergency by establishing a girls' printing class which became unusually popular. ln the spring of '45 he was even persuaded to sponsor one of the numerous Tri-Y's. That the Warrior, which has won seven state and national awards, retained its popularity is testified by the largest subscription list in the paper's history. This year and last, photographs by Ralph Hart, lim l-lervey, Ted Lantheaume, and Tom Horning have enlivened its pages.
