Board of Regents The University is governed by n Board of Regents, at least one of whom must he an alumnus. Four members of the present Board have attended the University. Two of the members are ex-officio: Gregg M. Sinclair. President of the University, and Clayton J. Chamberlin, Superintendent of the Department of Public Instruction. It is mandatory that each of the major islands be represented. Oahu is represented by Philip E. Spalding, retired businessman, chairman; Fred K. Lam. physician and sur- geon. vice-chairman: J. Garner Anthony, attorney at law: and Hung Wai Cliiug. realtor. Hawaii is represented by Richard Penhallow, assistant manager of the Parker Ranch; Maui, by Kalsuyuki Izumi, physician and surgeon; and Kauai, by Jack H. Mi uha. attorney at law. Paul S. Bachman. University Vice-President, is secretary. The affairs of the University are under the general management and control of the Board of Regents. The Regents’ powers extend to policy, appointments, finances, property, and fees.
