Many a student has profited from contact with his powerful and independent personality, and has caught from him glimpses of the satisfaction to be had from the pursuit of learning. He is one of the rare instances in which the thorough intellectual cultivation and charm that characterize the classical tradition are found associated with a refreshing open-mindedness louards the changing standards of our modern complex civilization. Professor Morris is a liberal in the truest and best sense of the term. The Golden Age in Georgia's history ikm the forties, when her great professors made the institution a center of cultural life and influence.
