STREET DEXTER BALLOU The Army, Navy, and Marines collectively threw a curve ball to the old Snake Lodge this year, but nevertheless sixty-five men trickled in and out of the East Tallahassee Country Club. From Jungle Jumps, Barn Brawls, and the time honored South Sea lsland dance to the ultra ultra Black and White Formal Dinner Dance lthe l6th annuall and the equally sophisticated Christmas Carol reading, the country gentlemen remained socially impeccable. Star Socialities Llewel- lyn, Christoffers, Carmody, and Nicholson burned up the roads, and their convertibles, between G'ville and Tallahassee, Miami, and the newly installed Casements. Led by Majors Athey, Hardaker, and Clark, a total of fifteen Snakes held sway in Scabbard and Blade, honorary military frat, and provided seven sponsors for the Ball Parade. l.F.C. prexy and Sec't, of Social Affairs Weadock and Number I Debate man Cone entered the coveted Hall of Fame, while Curt Holzer left Cafeteria society to becomei Secretary of Labor in the President's Cabinet. Cheerful Cliff Athey held sway in the Executive Council and Paul Hairless Hinson Hardaker sented as A.S.C.E. prexy. Poppy French and Yarclbird Clark saved the venerable Kokonut Klub from extinction by initiating four worthless men, Athletically speaking, the Snakes achieved quite a bit of distinction. Billy Mims, Billy Davis, and Big Mick Ryan starred on the varsity football team and Little Goat Gholson was varsity manager. Ryan was also one of the high scorers on the varsity basketball team. ' To end up the year the chapter left for the armed forces en masse to settle a personal score with the Sons of Heaven,

In addition to pill-peddling as graduate instructor to pharmacy Co-eds, Rejectee Dale keeps his title as Wold and takes over chapter finances from Reformer Lyle who cleans up the Infirmary stink and enters the Army via ERC, necessitating cessation af his honors and key seeking career, And Ph. D. Redd lGod save the Chemistry Departmentl takes time out to look for apartments and to think of his trek down the aisle come June. He glories in asking Prexy Lucius Gravely, the erstwhile reformer and fundamentalist, about the unsettled date for him and Jo, but apparently it doesn't bother this old-schcol Southerner. Speaker Bazemare, after fours, still insists that something good comes out of Plant City, and he offers himself as proof. Why? Frankly we wonder, too. Doc Nora continues sponsoring o.k. socials-more this year than in the past-and he rests easy with his Navy V-7 rating. Who wouIdn'tl Bob We came here looking for some cute dates for Military Ball. Stearns does his singing in the bath room now instead of with the Glee Club and Prof Romeo Frank Gagliardi departs seeking Army bars and leaves his mantle unplaced because of no likely successor. Bill Crow also seeks Army bars, and to our amazement the lights of G'vilIe still burn nearly as brightly as when he maneuvered the switches. Yankee Zoll finally resigns and begs his araft board to let him get into action. Arnold goes Navy and signs up for pre-med so as to stay around and represent Florida Alpha and Billy Matthews at Florida Union, Big-shot Carlton still piles it high but by now all the good brothers recognize it and stay prepared. The good old days are gone forever and the fellows that knew of them are gradually going too, carrying memories of the Sacred Heart. B
