The Twenty-ji th Anniversary of the University and Inter-A nierican Affairs HE University of Florida is twenty-five years old this year. Florida's faithful four, Dr. James N. Anderson, Dr. C. L. Crow, Dr. James M. Farr, and Major W. L. Floyd, have been connected with the University and have witnessed its growth throughout all these years. The University is proud of these four members of the old guardg it glories in their achievements, and the University of Florida of today, in a large measure, stands as a monument to their labor. The twenty-fifth anniversery of the founding of the University of Florida in Gainesville was fittingly cele- brated in February of this year together with the found- ing of the Institute of Inter-American aEairs. The University has, for several years, been cooperating with various organizations which are attempting to bring the countries of the Western Hemisphere closer together, and with the founding of this Institute she has definitely proclaimed her kinship to the colleges and universities in the countries to the South of us. The student body has, on many occasions, shown its enthusiasm and interest in the Institute, and by the generous gesture of presenting the Institute with flags representing the twenty-one South American Republics, contributed materially to the cause. The Institute of Inter-American affairs is a fine step in the right direc- tion, and its founding at the University of Florida was a most fitting manner in which to celebrate the quarter century mark in the age of the University.
