He was a Rhodes scholar at Oxford from 1904 to 1907. He was at Central fMissouriJ College from 1907 to 1909, and at Kentucky Wesleyan from 1909 to 1911. He moved to the University of Kentucky in 1911 and remained there a full decade. He was appointed United States Commissioner of Education in 1921, and served with honor and distinction to himself and with faithful service to his position until his appointment as President of the University of Florida in 1928. This college, in addition to teaching the fundamentals of Florida agriculture, carries on research Work and disseminates practical in- formation to farmers and fruit growers. It is one of the oldest colleges of the University, being the successor to the Agricultural college founded at Lake City. Page Twenty College of Arts and Sciences DEAN W. H.
