Professor of Clientistry COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES HE College of Arts and Sciences of the University of Florida is composed of three departments por divisions, all of them interrelated, and all having as a main purpose the broadening of the student's culture and refinement. Two four-year courses, leading to the degrees of Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science, are offered. In addition to these, a two-year course, designed to prepare men for entrance into our leading medical schools, is given to those students who have chosen medicine as a profession, and who are unable to spend four years in non-professional training. The University of Florida enjoys the distinction of having in the faculty of its College of Arts and Sciences a greater percentage of men holding the degree of Doctor of Philosophy than any other university in the entire country, if we except Yale and Columbia. We are proud of this as an indication of our scholastic standing, and because it shows that the men whom we meet in our classrooms daily are those best Fitted to guide us through the formative period of youth, and instill in us the ideals that lead to manliness and success. ,,, ,,,... he ish-.. Instructor in Agricultural Journrzlisnl COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE I-IE purpose of the College of Agriculture of the University of Florida is to train its students in the theory and practice of farming, and to fit them to take a leading part in the development of our common- wealth. The courses offered cover practically all phases of agriculture, and most of them are taught with special reference to the peculiar needs and conditions of our state. Not only does the college realize that we need farmers, but also that we need leaders, and that through college men improved methods of farming may best be introduced. The ideal of the institution is to produce men who, through themselves and through others, will make Florida richer and more pro- ductive. Of the live courses offered, two four-year courses lead to the degrees of Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Graduate in Farming. Two-year, one-year, and four- month courses supplement these, and in addition the college, through its extension service and interest in boys, and girls' agricultural clubs, carries its benehts to those who are unable to attend the University. The College of Agriculture has more graduates than any other in our University, and though a few of these men are now in other states, or pursuing other occupa- tions, by far the larger number are following their profession in Florida, and it is largely to their work and influence that our present high status in agriculture is due.
