Dean THE purpose of the College of Engineering is to furnish such training as will bo useful to its graduates in the profession of engineering. The courses of instruction olTered are similar to those of other American engineering schools of college grade and are Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Chemical Engineering. The headquarters and principal building of the College of Engineering is known as Engineering Hall. This is a three-story brick building of the same general style of architecture as the other buildings of the University. Attached to this building are two one-story wings in one of which are located the boilers, steam engine laboratory and machine shop. The other, or south wing, has just been completed this year. It is a one-storv building, forty by one hundred and eighty feet, and divided into three sections. Twenty-three

The appropriation for this building was made with the expectation of its covering the cost of construction and equipment, but on account of the sudden rise in the price of construction work during the year, the funds turned T. M. SIMPSON, M.A., PhD. out to be sufficient for the construction work only. It is expected that the legislature will appropriate the necessary money for equipment this year. At present the woodworking shop and forge shop are located in a one-story brick building a short distance from Engineering Hall.
