Churches and civic groups in the community provide special programs and opportunities just for University of Florida students. More than 500 participate in a student volunteer ac- tion organization, providing compan- ionship and assistance to children, the elderly, the handicapped, the incar- cerated, the underpriviledged and the lonely in 14 separate programs. It is the largest student volunteer action group in the nation.
