Bid-signing night has many anxious moments, but none quite so hard on the potential pledge as that of finally receiving his bids and making a deci- sion. Above, Steve Hipfel accepts the envelope containing his. After signing a bid, the new pledge is rushed from the Great Hall and heaved into a mass of bodies, whose outstretched hands he rides to the bottom of the Union steps. This mass is actually the fraternities, welcoming their pledges in a truly dis- tinct manner. Coach Gaudin leads team to best season ever The University of Evansville ' s soccer team was led by first year head coach Bob Gaudin to its best season ever. Gaudin. a for- mer All-State soccer player in New York and a four year vet- eran of semi-professional soccer, assumed the U of E coaching duties on September 1 of last year. Before coming to U of E, Coach Gaudin was head basket- ball and soccer coach at Evans- ville Day School. Gaudin ' s pres- ence at the Day School com- memorated his first venture into full-time coaching in Evansville. He was also instrumental in organizing Evansville ' s Elemen- tary Soccer League. In Bob Gau- din ' s earlier days he played high school soccer at Old Forge, New York and was on the State Uni- versity of New York (Potsdam) varsity contingent for four years. In the future. Coach Gaudin plans to recruit nationwide. Above right. Coach Gaudin looks on with approval as the team moves on to a victorious season.
