The Lamba Chi Watermelon Bust is one of the bigger events of the lawn party season, the main contest involved being that of young women trying to fit the mold of the Chi ' s perfect woman, and thus be crowned Miss Watermelon Bust. Below, Patty Pruitt makes a val- iant but unsuccessful effort to fit the silhouette, with Bernie Mackell cheer- ing her on at left while Ray Richmond watches her skeptically. At lower left, Steve Willem of PKT comes up for air in the watermelon eating contest, while below that, a hard-peddlin ' Chi-O pledge, Jan Miller, tries to lead her group to a win in the tricycle race, with judge Brian Lauer watching.
