Armstrong At His Best Tom Armstrong Charles Schulz has Peanuts . . . Walt Kelly has Pogo . . . and Tom Armstrong has 2-S . The art major from Evansville is the creator of a weekly comic strip that appears in the campus newspaper, The Crescent. 2-S is both the name of the cartoon and its main character — a mop-haired, moustached student with a huge nose. Armstrong combines cartooning abihty with original humor to produce a strip that often touches on various areas on campus: the University ' s new campus in England, final exams, the grading system. Armstrong has also provided editorial cartoons for The Crescent, portraits for the LinC and the new campus magazine, The Catalyst, and art work for advertising in both Crescent and Catalyst. 2-S is not Armstrong ' s first step into the art world; his high school newspaper and yearbook also contain some of his art work.
