Dr. W. D. H. Hunter. HEN the Trustees meet in annual session in June next, no face will be more sadly missed than the familiar face of Dr. W. D. H. Hunter. For many years he has been a leading member of the board, and has always taken a deep interest in its deliberations. He was a modest, sensible man, and never talked except when he had something to say. Calm and deliberate in forming his conclusions, he weighed carefully every question at issue. When his mind was made up, he stood Hrmly by his convictions of right. Dr. Hunter was a man, too, of great wisdom and sound judgment. He was found, therefore, on the right side of almost every question under debate. There are few men who have a keener sense of justice than had he, and few, indeed, more earnest, faithful, and conscientious in the discharge of ofncial duties. These noble qualities of mind and heart made him a conspicuous and influential factor in all the deliberations of the board. No one could have fully appreciated the worth of Dr. Hunter that did not know him intimately. For twenty-five yearshe has been my friend and counselor. Through all these years, he has commanded my respect and confidence by a friendship as pure and unseliish as ever dwelt in human heart. He was a man of broad culture and of fine literary tastes. He was a great lover of books, but read only the best. Above all the Doctor was a 1'elzgz'0115 man. His faith in Christ as the Savior of men was simple, intelligent, abiding. His every-day life was a beautiful exemplincation of the Christian religion as taught by the Master. In all the relations of life, indeed, whether in the social circle, in the whirl and bustle of business life or in the quietude of home, surrounded by those nearest and dearest to his heart, Dr. Hunter was always and everywhere the same kind, courteous, Christian gentleman. g u J. H. MARTIN. 22
