28 Carl Bernstein Carl Bernstein began his career in journalism at age 16 as a copy boy for the Washington Star. He later be- came a full time reporter for the Star and worked there for several years until moving to the Daily Journal in New Jersey and then as a staff member of the Washington Post. It was while working on the Post that Bernstein teamed with reporter Bob Woodward and wrote a series of investigating articles which exposed the White House involvement in the Watergate scandal. For these arti- cles, both men won every major journalism award. Although no longer working for the Post, Berns- tein continues to devote his time to writing. His current project being a book dealing with the McCarthy era.

W.W. Rostow W.W. Rostow received both his BA and Ph.D from Yale University. He also attended Balliol College in England as a Rhodes Scholar. After serving in the Second World War, Rostow joined the State Department as Associate Chief of the German-Austrian Economic Division. He also taught Economic history at M.LT. During the years from 1961 to 1969, Rostow held various government appointed positions: Deputy Special Assistant to the President for National Affairs, Counselor of the Department of State and Chairman of the Policy Planning Council. Among his recent publications are The United States in the World Arena, A design for Asian Development and The Diffusion of Power. Rollo May Dr. Rollo May received his doctorate from Columbia University in 1949. He has taught at several universities including Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and the New Social Research. He currently works as a psychoanalyst in New York. Dr. May has written the following books: Power and Innocence, Love and Will, Psychology and the Human Dilemma, and Man's Search for Himself.

Thomas 5. Szasz Dr. Thomas Szasz was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1920. The Szasz family moved to the United States prior to the invasion of Au- stria. He received his B.A. at the University of Cincinnati and his M.D. degree in medicine at the Col- lege of Medicine of the University of Cincinnati. Sasz was trained in psy- chiatry at the University of Chicago Clinics and in psychoanalysis at the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis. In his book, The Myth of Mental lllness: Foundations of a Theory of Personal Conduct, Szasz challenges the use of the term mental illness Some of his other books include Law, Liberty, and Psychiatry, Psychiatric Justice, The Ethics of Psychoanalysis and The Theory and Method of Autonomous Psychotherapy. e Senator Howard Baker After serving in the Navy during World War II, Howard Baker enrolled in the Univer- sity of Tennessee and gradu- ated from the college of law in 1949. He practiced law in Tennessee until being elected to the Senate in 1966. In the Senate, Baker cos- ponsored voting rights and legislation and a constitu- tional amendment to lower the voting age to 18. He also participated in efforts to re- place the draft with an all vol- unteer army. Senator Baker worked as Vice Chairman in the Watergate Committee ' and is currently a member of the Senate Select Committee investigating the activities of government intelligence and law enforcement agencies.
