From the title page to the senior section, various geometric terms have been used to convey an overall picture of the campus. The staff hopes you will enjoy every dimension of this year's publication. My hope is that you have now fallen into a confirmed habit of setting goals and attaining them. In life beyond our campus you will stand even more in need of being individually purposeful than has been necessary at this Univer- sity. For here, the University has marshalled a strong faculty and ex- cellent facilities. In this specialized environment students are guided and encouraged to develop intellectually and personally to their full potential. After graduation there are no long-established prescriptions and specific course requirements to guide you toward successful ac- complishment. Obviously, graduates are much more on their own. It is up to each of you to know what you want, and in the words of the world, Go places. 1 speak not for myself alone but for Trustees and your fa- culty friends when I add, Go to worthwhile places, as well as high places. Godspeed. Sincerely yours, j,ni W 5 John A. Perkins FQOLLS All facets of Delaware are sur- rounded and enhanced by the campus. The facilities and grounds create both an academic and a so- cial atmosphere. While attending the University, our physical sur- roundings constitute our whole life. The origin of stu- dent activities and axis of university life are the Stu- dent Government Associ- ation and the Student Cen- ter Council. This governing body is the link between the administration and the stu- dent voice. The Council's many functions help enliven campus life and keep things spinning. JOHN A. Delaware's first score came as the result of a Kempski to Bianco pass from the six-yard line. While the defense held Lehigh in check, the Hens' offense was on the move. Clint Ware, player of the week, scored from three yards out and a little later returned an interception 58 vards for his second score of the day and the score was 20-0, The final score came from a Wallace intercepted aerial, as Michaels crashed over from the 3. GETTYSBEURG It was a good. all-round performance from the entire team as Delaware blasted the Bullets 49-7. As the Blue Hen de- fense again throttled the opposition, McCoy, Michaels, Wal- lace, Hopkins and Brown provided the scoring punch. Both Wallace and Brown scored twice, Brown's two scores on 68 and 32 yard runs. Ron McCoy became the player of the week for his spectacular all-round performance. LAFAYETTE Delaware assumed first place in the MAC and Lambert Cup standings as a result of the Hens' third straight win, defeating Lafayette 28-7, The Delaware defense again showed its strength, while Blue Hen runners literally left the Leopards in the dust. The halftime score was 14-0 in favor of the U. of D., coming in a 77 vard Clint Ware scamper, a Kempski to Bianco pass, and two conversions by place kicker John Os- born. The second half excitement was provided by Clint Ware, who scored from the Lafayveite 48 and then scored again bringing his game total to 3 TD's. Workhorse Tom Michaels was player of the week. BUFFALO The Hens received their first disappointing setback in the last eight minutes of the game. Injuries to John Scholato, Tom Michaels and Ron McCoy in the third quarter may have cost the Hens the victory in the hard-fought game. Paul Chesmore turned in excellent work at the line and Ted Kempski became the player of the week for his stellar per- formance. Ron McCoy scored and Ron Bianco and Joe Slo- bojan set up the other two by the recovery of two fumbles in the 20-19 loss. VILLANOVA The midway game of the season saw Delaware drop a 22-10 decision to powerful Villanova. Although the Hens im- pressively ground out 9 first-downs to the Wildcats' 6, Mike Brown's TD and John Osborn's field goal weren't enough to prevent the clawing. CONNECTICUT The Huskies were cold as the red-hot Hens ran to an im- pressive 34-0 win over the major-college team. Joe Slobojan scored first and was followed by speedy Mike Brown as the Hens built up a 12-0 half-time lead. The attack bogged down in the third quarter but opened up with both barrels in the fourth with Kempski scoring on a quarterback sneak afier large gains by Brown and Slobojan. Burowski set up the re- maining two scores for the Tasmanian Devils and the third unit, with his pass interceptions earning himself plaver of the week honors. TEMPLE The Owls weren't secing too well in the dark, as the Blue Hens overcame the difficelties of night football and won by a score of 20-8 the most crucial game in their drive for the MAC championship game. Behind 2-0 at the end of the first quarter, the Hens started to roll, scoring on a Kempski-to- Michaels completion and a 4 yard scamper by Clint 'Ware. Mike Brown scored the final TD after another Burowski in- terception and Fred Rullo completed the one-point conversion. Rullo became player of the week for his toe's splendid per- formance. RUTGERS A fired-up Hen eleven smashed the boys from Old Queens 23-6, geiting their revenge for the beating taken last year at Hutgers. BUCKMELL Defense was the key to success as Delaware met the finest quarterback it had seen all season, Surprisingly it was Dela- ware who scored first through the air, with Clint Ware making a diving catch of Folak's pass for the TD. John Osbom pro- vided the game-winning poinis with a 21 yard field goal as Delaware went on to defeat the Bisons 9-6 and wrap up the MAC and Lambert Cup honors, thereby becoming the first team to win both titles the same year.
