Bas kd Lau Feofball fr I 0 4 1 .pun ,g 1:-v . --an N3 S irntfirma THREE TIMES AND OVER was the familiar cry as the volley ball season started. After several close contests, the tall sextet from X wound up on top of the heap. Softball found six diamonds in work four nights a week, as the season was drastically curtailed due to bad weather and an early clos- ing of school. Phi Mu edged out Gamma Rho to take the championship of the league. The annual track meet was rained out on three consecutive weekends and finally cancelled. The splash artists converged in the pool and after a night of keen competition, Sigma Phi walked off with first honors, being followed by X and Gam- ma Rho in that order. Then came summer and three long months of vacation. Greek athletic relations were resumed on the gridiron in early September. Using a split league system, X took league B, and Alpha Gam- ma Rho swept league A, running up 100 points while keeping their opponents scoreless. In the post season play-off, held on the upper field, a smooth functioning, hard hitting, blocking green and gold club from Gamma Rho upset the X ma- chine 7-6. Trailing by a touchdown, a third period pass from Puglisi to O'Hara tied the score at 6 all. With the same exacting position Puglisi shot a bullet pass into the end zone to Bobby Moss for the point after touchdown that meant ultimate victory and the championship for the big grey house on the corner. i Athletic efforts went indoors once again as the basketball campaign got under way. In a close season, featuring many hard fought games, a tall veteran X club gained first honors and Alpha Gamma Rho and Alpha Phi finished in a tie for second. SOHP'-ll Tru K 'H J J 7s

lfllllllllllutdl S E'l'l'Y0. - Luwcgoclay O 0 Then mid-yearsirolled around and once again the Greeks departed from the scenes of athletic warfare and retreated to alcoves to cram for Hnals. From the far Hung corners of the campus, the coeds gathered in Hawley Armory to compete in various sports for the glory of their respective sor- orities or dorms. Holcomb Hall established, itself early in the season as a threat and sure enough, spring comes and we find them-sitting on top of the intramural league. Ping-pong began the season as the Theta house took the blue ribbon, while Holcomb racked up thirty points in archery. The girls then moved in- side to tackle badminton, where Holcomb and Pi Phi finished first and second respectively in both singles and doubles. In the annual intramural swimming meet the Holcomb tanksters nosed out Pi Phi and the Kappa girls splashed to third place. It was Holcomb again who shot to first place, when the coeds in- vaded the basketball court, with the Thetas fin- ishing close behind. Tennis and softball remain to challenge the contestants, but Holcomb is well in the lead at this point, with three trophies to their credit. Like all the contests, however, the next two sports will be hard fought battles, where the winner will really earn, their trophies. - gmlYliNhV5q X! 'K .si 0 c.3Qif2f3,..,..-csv..
