However, the contrary is the case. The war has made profound and kaleidoscopic changes in campus life. The changes, while not acceptable to many, have served on the whole to raise the caliber of the college student. In this day and age the student rarely comes to college for four years of fun and frivolity. The cam- pus wags have been left by the wayside. The student today comes to realize, and train himself to cope with, the problems of living. The student has been thrown on his own resources more than ever before both mentally and socially. But the joy of college days has not in the least been impaired by present conditions. at U jcVl Normal life is difficult to achieve under the tran- sient conditions of constant turnover of faculty, stu- dents, and personnel in general. The Navy invasion of such great magnitude, the constant leaving of students for the service, the furlough visits of old students — make it very hard to stick to the job at hand. To our mind the college student of today who realizes the worth of a mind that is trained, and who sticks to grasping the tools of learning as long as possible is aiding the future pros- pects of the war eifort. Nevertheless, however serious, the scholastic tone, the C. U. student has managed to maintain his ' joie de vivre ' . In spite of bond drives. Red Cross classes, and library grinding interspersed between them, he finds time for his gun.
