CMS graduates first class of ROTC officers This year Central Missouri State College graduated its first class of ROTC officers who have completed the basic and advanced studies as well as laboratory work. As early as 1940 Central Missouri State requested that an ROTC program be established on the campus. Also in 1911-6 the college invited all branches of the Armed Forces to establish their ROTC programs here. Initiated at Central Missouri State in the fall of 1968, the Reserve Officer Train- ing Corps program has expanded to a total enroll- ment of 971 freshmen, 58 sophomores, 51 juniors, and 20 seniors. Lt. Colonel William F. Warlick, professor of Military Science, is the commanding officer. This year's cadre consisted of thirteen of- ficers and six non-commissioned officers. A high- light of the year was the campus-wide Red Cross Blood Drive promoted by ROTC cadets. Some of the organizations sponsored by ROTC are the Pershing Rifles, rifle and pistol teams, the Princess Platoon and Counter Cuerillas. To be a member of Scabbard and Blade, a national honor fraternity, a cadet must be an advanced student with a 3.5 grade in ROTC courses and an overall grade-point of 2.5.
