Pierce For a simple plot framework, Shake- speare portrays in ancient Athens its ru- ler, Theseus, and the Queen of the Ama- zons tog-ether planning their wedding. A pair of Theseus' young' friends, eloping, enter the palace wood, a mile outside Athensg in pursuit comes thither a rival youth, and after him follows a maid he has jilted. To the same wood resort a troupe of extremely amateurish actors to rehearse a tragedy to present before The- seus and his courtiers. There also the King of the Fairies schemes to reduce to terms his rebellious Queen: and, with an elvish aide, he incidently involves the lovers and the actors in comical mix-ups and administers to them benevolent ad- justments. Mr. Russ Coleman, Director. l Marching Mules perform at St. Louis Cardinal game Led by Drum Major Carlton Combs, the Mules, March- ing Band enjoyed a year of numerous activities. Fall term found the band leading the annual Homecoming parade, as well as supporting the Mules at all home football games. In addition, the CMS band followed the Mules to the SWMS-CMS football game in Springfield. The Marching Mules also had the honor of performing during half-time at the St. Louis Cardinals-Cleveland Browns national league football game which was tele- vised on December 10. David Lay acted as senior assistant for the marching band which consisted of 120 members, selected through try-outs. The majorette twirlers were Connie White, head twirler, Larna Shelton, and Lynn Kirby. The CMS Marching Mules step high as they lead the way for the other Homecoming parade entries. 28
