Pete Beyer, president of the College Union Cabinet. and the other l9 Cabinet members have the over- whelming task of supervising almost all CMS social functions. This year in order to gather new ideas and exchange information with neighboring colleges, the Cabinet members attended a Regional Union Cabinet Convention at Stillwater, Oklahoma. A few of the activities sponsored by the Union and under the direction of the Cabinet included the all- school musical, Anything Goesgi, the Freshman Tal- ent Showg Breckenridge Ski Trip: Sadie Hawkins Day: the All-School Carnival at Pertle Springs, formal and semi-formal dances, and various tournaments. To accommodate the Union Cabinet and all CMS students, the Union addition under construction will feature such facilities as: l0 additional bowling lanes, a large game roomg a faculty lounge, an art gallery and conference area combinedg offices for the Union staff and committees, the cafeteria doubled in size, a larger ball room with a stage'and dressing rooms, a beauty shopg and a large store including a bank, post office, and jewelry shop. An architectural rendering foresees the Union, fall of 1966.

Pertle Springs entrances MS students and facult Pertle Springs accommodates CMS students as a popular recreation spot the year round. Located one mile south of the campus, Pertle is a 300-acre recreational and biological research area. Students make use of Pertle in field trips and experiments and pure enjoyment. ln the past year, a 9-hole golf course has been extended to an 18-hole course. Boats and canoes are for rent for fishing or just boating, and picnic areas are utilized throughout spring, summer, and fall by outdoor students who also might enjoy hiking at Pertle. The air-con- ditioned Walnut Room of Pertle Lodge cools summer out- doorsmen or the fireplace warms winter sportsmen. And when cold Weather assists, ice-skating areas are available. . . F i g in .
