- it Homecomin creates and recalls an international holiday Homecoming is to remember the past by celebrating the present. lt is a holiday of nostalgia for college alumni. and weeks of hectic excitement and preparation by undergraduates. lt is a memorable event of renewed friendships and treasured years. Homecoming l965 . . . the freshman's first glimpse of special college weekends . . . yesterday meeting today . . . campaigning for a personal favorite . . . time for organizations . . . footballs and cleats . . . extra grid practices . . . nocturnal drill for an impressive convo . . . Saturday and Sunday in Hendricks Hall . . . black lights and opera hose . . . the glow that comes only from winning . . . walking across a darkened campus in the shadows of defeat . . . planning the following phase . . . a name tag and a straight pin . . .
