Diemer the president s ,message s 1 mg t and we stand between today and tomorrow, and yet when the clock has finished striking. we are again into today and tomorrow is twenty-four hours away. When will tomorrow come? is the question that the child often asks. But to- morrow ne er ' ' ' ' ' v comes, always it is today in which we must live. Cen- turies ago Kalidasa wrote Look to this day! For it is life, the very life of life. In its brief course Lie all the verities and realities of your existence: The bliss of growth ' The glory of action The splendor of beauty, For yesterday is but a dream And Tomorrow is only a vision, But today well lived m k happiness And every tomorrow a vision of hope. - Look well, therefore, to this day! A ooks to this day, a day that is closing, that a es every yesterday a dream of The 1954 RHETOR 1 will live only in the book of memory which the Colle e an l ' . q nua repre- sents. In this day that is now closing, there has been much of achieve ment and f ' o accomplishment. The College has moved forward in its physical plant and its educational program. Both in academic and in college activities, there has been much of which to he proud. The Rhetor will record largely through pictures those activities that have reflected credit on the College and individuals and groups who hav h' e ac ieved in a worthy manner. Only words of commendation are in order for succ s t l ' ' ' e s u accomplishment and hence we do well to honor those who in the year that is now past have added to the laurels of the Central Mis- souri State College. ' Through the years this volume will be a record of yesterday. The real test of the value of yesterday's achievements however is ' , , in what is accomplished today. This challenge is appropriate to every t d s u ent and faculty member and to the College as a whole. May yes- terday be a pleasant dream: may tomorrow be a vision of hope: but may we all look well to this day and to all the todays to come.
