She and her husband, the late Clarence I L. Phelps, have served the University f r almost half a century. Through Clarence Phelps, Preside t of Santa Barbara Stt College from 1918 to 1944 and Provost of UCSB until 1946, the famous William Wyles Collection came to our library. As his Dean of Women from 1924 to 1953 Mrs. Phelps boosted development of the A ciated Women u ens an ioneere St d t d p d th organization of Panhellenic.
