She tackled her duties with all the vigor of h e r m ale predecessors and earned the respect of both her UCSB associates and those with whom she came in contact on other campuses. In addition to leading Legislative C o u n c il through a year of excitement, Kitty was called upon to speak at All-Cal weekend, Cal Club Convention and C h a n c e l I o r Gould's Inauguration. In each case, it was the unanimous opin- ion of all those present that Kitty brought credit to herself and her school in every way possible. Kitty's reign will be remembered, above all, as one that saw a good deal of controversy: The Barbary Coast question, President Kerr's directives and Argo posters were but a few of the problems Kitty and her council had to face.
