VI1 E' la Foreword , N NIANY respects the year of 1922-23 has been a year of greatest development. The ,realization of ideals has indicated great prog- ress, and the work of years has now to a con- siderable degree been consummated. This year makes a climax. Santa Barbara State College this year grants her first baccalaureate degrees in Home Economics and Community lllechanics. The dream of her founders has become a reality. lVIajor stress on the departmental organizations of the college has given way to the organization of classesg as is the custom in institutions of college standing. This year the staff offers a different La Cumbref, It is hoped that the new binding, the color plates, the class organizations, and the disposition of the advertise- ments and other changes will commend themselves to the readers. We have profited by the experiences gained from publishing Normal Life and La Cumhre, '22. The ideals which inspired former annuals together with the ideals of the present, have inspired this book. The retiring staff withdraws rather reluctantly, hav- ing keenly enjoyed the composition of this Annualg it is their sincere wish that the succeeding editorial department may find the opportunity even more congenial. . -T H is STA FF. . ll .
