Betterecl last Bob Woertink prepares to ward off an on-rushing tackler. UCR's fleet fullback probably hurt his thumb in a similar fashion. Playing a schedule of seven games, highlighted by UCR's first participa- tion in the All-Cal Weekend at Berke- ley, the Clan's light, fast, and inexperi- enced 35-man squad enjoyed its most successful season under head mentor Carl Selin. The new season brought with it a new line coach, Gil Allan, and seven- teen freshmen. Along with them came a new spirit, a competitive spirit and desire to win which helped the Clan upset a highly regarded Cal Western team, and which reached its highest peak in the last 30 minutes of the final game against Long Beach State Frosh. Twinkle Toes Bob Woertmk dances off-tackle and much needed Clan yard- age.
