The purchase of a large club house adjacent to the campus has kept the members busy with renovations this year, but in years to come it will serve not only as a social and residential centre, but as a focus for all our activ- ities, including study, athletics and social service projects. Already we have hosted a leadership conference for the other Canadian Zeta Psi Chap- ters, social for campus groups and alumni, discussion groups and the orientation days for prospective U of A students. Our members are actively involved in campus organizations, radio and the Gauntlet. Our influence on campus is pre- sently subtle, but as our membership grows, it will become stronger. We will be adding to campus spirit not only by our activities as a group, but also by the experiences that each member takes into his activity outside of the Fraternity. Watch out, U of C!! Smith v. x Ion Guy Fred Harvey Zeta Psi Fraternity is a private, men's undergraduate social club. It was founded at New York University in 1847, and now has 46 chapters at universities across the U.S. and Can- ada. The Chi Gamma Chapter, here at the University of Calgary, was found- ed in 1967 and was the first fraternity on campus. At the present time we are the only Greek organization, but we look forward to being joined by other international fraternities in the near future. Fraternities had their origins as study clubs, and despite their develop- ment into today's large social and residential groups their emphasis is still strongly academic.
