I GACCZI Class of 7963 THE LIFE OF A CLINICAL CLERK This junior year - was quite a treat It made us tired and really beat: Nurses and patients - both were alike When we arrived - to determine their plight. We were the doctors, with knowledge supreme The nurses knew better, and thought us a scream, But that was okay, and didn't bother us Cause the patient's didn't know: theretore didn't tuss. We learned many things, as the months dritted by, To start an I. V., or push in some dye The N-G tubes -- became a great ioke We knew they were right - when the patient didn't choke. Many a night, we were called trom our bed To tix u 'a hand or patch up a head We Iookaed at emergencies, as they came in From a cut on the toe, to a scratch on the chin. To do work-ups - it was our duty1 Some patients were nice. while ot ers were truity Questions were asked - like - have you got the mumps? Any operations, allergies or abnormal bumps? Some ot the replys - to us seemed strange Either the patient or us - was mentally derranged Which one it was - we cannot be sure To correct this dilemma -- they have not a cure. To make a diagnosis e tor us wasn't hard We read the tirst sheet, or the admission card Sometimes we're right, sometimes we're wrong We made our decision, with smile and song. Besides our duties - we had our pleasure Surgery. Medicine - and others to measurte To try our hand - in each good field To try our ambition and never to yield. w., Lawrence E. Steiner Tutton Wadsworth An lnternist works - in the morning he starts By treating diabetes - and listening to hearts With pills and prescriptions, and a low calorie diet He makes our decisions, when we can't decide it. Surgery's the service - when you learn how to cut From a gastric resection, to a mole on your butt Skill and precision - are the words that describe Medicines ace - to keep one alive. To be a thinker - a Psychiatrist' must For it's in their hands - some lives We trust From alcoholics - to tull psychotics They treat the sick and some neurotics. Pediatrics - the study ot a sick child or kid ls something else, we practiced and did To treat the children - was, not hard at all But: To put up with parents - took patience and gall. To examine the new bornes - it became our tate They looked so tragile - we thought they would break, When changing a diaper - you soon learned quick That - to keep out ot range - was more than a trick. To have imagination, is what one will need To be a Radiologist - with x-rays to read Fractures and masses - the easily point out But - ot some ot their findings - I still have my doubt- ln the above 'Few verses - we've tried to relate What keeps one sharp, and up to date lt's all part ot learning, to become a good Doc The enjoyment we've had, we hope will not stop. The years will go by - with swittness and speed Treating our patients - tor all that they need We'll have many memories - ot things we have done But none will compare - to this learning and tun.
