Kappa is one of 'Ihe fhirfy chapfers of 'lhe Nafional Phi Lambda Kappa which is associafed wifh 'lhe Medical Sfudenfs Aid Sociefyg whose funcfion if is fo supply 'Financial aid fo any medical sfudenf in need and fo raise money fo 'lhal' end. The officers elecfed for fhe I96I-I962 year were: Presidenf, Ronald Dozorefzg Vice Presidenf, Lawrence Grass: Treasurer, Frank Ehrlich: Isf Secrefary, Irving Sier- man: 2nd Secrefary, Gerald Goldsfein. Scholasfically we ae proud of our record fo whifz five frafers in fhe Gibson Anafomical Sociefy and fwo of our seniors were elecfed 'Io Alpha Omega Alpha. Some of our social highlighfs of fhe pasf year were begun early wifh our annual closing affair which was held af fhe home of an alumni wifh swimming and informal splash during fhe day and a dinner and dancing in fhe evening. In fhe fall we held a 'Few I'wis'I' parfies which were greaf fun. Our s'I'ag for freshmen and fraI'erni'I'y mem- bers was a dinner af fhe Monfifiore Club wifh Dr. Huberf Lansky and his slide pro- iecfor providing inferesf. I+ has been our annual cusfom 'Io have a fabulous cockfail parfy preceding 'Ihe Med-Denf dance and fhis year wasn'I' any excepfion. A+ 'lhe fime of fhis wrifing fhe year is noi' over socially. We sfill have a few parfies and our closing affair is in I'he sfages of planning and anficipafion of a grea'I ' is running high in our ranks. This year in Washingfon, D. C., over 'lhe New Year's Weekend, our annual con- venfion was held. Besides having an excellenf social whirl our delegafes helped push some legislafion, easing fhe applicafion for sfudenf loans and also presenfed our Chapfers requesf for financial aid for a frafernify aparfmenf and meefing facilify. I am happy fo reporl' fhal' fhis was successfully received and fhe money and fhe apar'I'- menl' are now realized enI'i'I'ies. This year Kappa Chapfer was honored nafionally by having one of ifs members, Irv. Sferman elecfed fo fhe Nafional Board of Trusfees. Nexf years convenfion will be held over fhe New Years holiday in DeI'roi'I', Michigan. Our monfhly meefings have been sparked by our confinuing policy of having speakers. Some of fhis years guesfs included: Dr. Irwin Ginsberg, middle ear surgery: Dr. Herberf Berman, concepfs of plasfic surgery: Mr. Fahey, insurance consulfanfg Dr. Mike Black, posf operafive complicafions. The annual Christmas Cocktail-Twist Party at the Nu Sigma Nu House highlighted our 'Fall season. In February, we entertained the girls at the Good Shepherd Home with a Valentines Party and hand made hosiery bag gifts. This spring, we heartily enioyed a box lunch auction and a recipe swap. To end our tour years properly, we wined and dined and danced with our husbands at the Parkway Inn. lt certainly has been tun. Best ot luck to all in the tuture. twain .
