OICE in government is a basic and distinguishing character- istic of a democratic society. The Student Bar Association is set up in such a way as to insure that this principle be carried out in the student govemment of the University of Buffalo School of Law. Governing all is a constitution, a body of fundamental law pre- scribing the outlines of student participation in government. The Board of Directors is the ruling bodyg it consists of a president elected by the entire student body and four members elected from each class. At its meetings policy is set and specific determina- tions are enacted into rules and regulations. Under the Board and responsible to it are the functioning committees, each with its own sphere of activity, which provide for the efficient operation of the day to day activities of the Law School. Under the constitution, every member of the School is to assign himself to at least one committee so that he may participate in the governing of that of which he is a part. In addition to its governmental function, the Student Bar Associ- ation is designed to acquaint future members of the Bar with the workings of local bar associations, for its organization is patterned after that of those bodies. 51 X 1-.-fs..-,N ' tu-fs-.ww-1s.4 P-22-f '
