THE YEARS AHEAD A constant striving for quality and excellence in all phases of the academic program will keynote the development of the University of Bridgeport in the next decade. Improved salary schedules are expected to continue and broaden the present high standard of teaching. New and better facilities will enhance the learning situation for the student body. Funds from the ten-year, 51517 ,500,000 development and expansion program now in progress at the University will be used to increase faculty salaries, enrich the academic program, provide additional scholarships for worthy students, extend the program of student ac- tivities and expand the physical plant. The future holds great develop- ment in store for the University, together with a challenge to meet and cope with the ever-expanding needs of a society in search of a sound education. Plans call for a student body of 10,000 students by 1972 with campus facilities valued at more than fl530,000,000.

The junior College of Connecticut, which was founded and chartered in Bridgeport in 1927, twenty years later became the University of Bridge- port and -assumed a greater role in education. During those years one of the important faculty members was Clarence D. L. Ropp, a man who has continued to contribute to the University's growth to the present day as Dean of the College of Arts and Science. The high standards demanded by Dr. Ropp, a member of Phi Beta Kappa, in the quality of work performed by students has been credited by many University officials as a major factor in the development of the young University as an outstanding institution of higher learning. To Dr. Clarence D. L. Ropp, a man with exceptional generosity, clarity of judgment, devotion to high principles and the courage to defend them, we dedicate this Wistarian , with gratitude for the support and dedication with which he has served the University of Bridgeport for thirty- six years. DEDICATION
