Eli Manning ' s rebels rolled into town to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks for Homecoming 2002. There were many events that led up to the meeting on the field. There was a parade that stretched along Dickson Street that included many sororities, frater¬ nities, residence halls and organizations that made floats to show their school spirit and to compete for the best float. There was also a pep rally to get not just the team but also the students ready for the game. It was great to see how many people were there. Some pep rallies haven t had that many people but for homecoming it was full, said Parker Denson, senior music education major. « • Early the next morning the band was at Walker Pavilion practicing for the game. The Alumni band joined in with more than 50 in attendance. I really like having the slumni band here especially when we are on the field for halftime and can ' t play the fight song when we score a touchdown. I thought it was funny to have them sitting down by the Ole Miss fans blasting away, said Denson. At 11 a.m. the team got off the buses at Broyles Center parking lot. Many fans greeted them as they went into the stadium to get focused before the game. At halftime the band marched onto the field and played Arkansas You Run Deep in me while the homecoming queen and court were announced. The court included. Queen Ashley Medlin of Cabot, Amanda Mannat of Brinkley, Emily Abell of Jonesboro, Kristen Allbritton of Fayetteville and Gwendolyn Williams of Magnolia. It was a great honor to be on the homecoming court, said Abell. It adds to my whole college experience. To put a great finish on a great week¬ end, the Hogs came through and defeated the Ole Miss Rebels 48-28. - iv Amy Brashear O
