He is the very picture of progressive leadership in a changing society . . . A dreamer-yes-but his dreams are becoming realities for us and shall be enjoyed by our children for decades to come . . . He has accepted criti- cism, good and bad, and still carries his burden untiringly, and very well, as can be attested by the monuments he is building while still alive . . . A product of the college he now heads, a credit to Arkansas, the new South, Amer- ica, and all humanity . . . wJ 'ii 1.7 f y l P l S FOREWORD This Yearbook, which represents,vthe fulfillment of a promise and a prophecy, is prodduced as a result of a change which has taken place with respect to organization of publication. Here-to-fore, this has been a project of the Senior Class, but the desire by students to develop for themselves the ability to as- sume responsibility and leadership has demanded that this production be placed into the hands of the Stu- dent Government, a practice which is expected to con- tinue. And, too, this Yearbook sees A. M. ik N. mak- ing tremendous progress in that it is expanding its physical plant, facilities, and personnel. This year A. M. EQ N. accomplished the goal sought with respect to her admittance to the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. She is now a mem- ber of this Association. Therefore, it is fitting at this time for the entire student body to make this meritor- ious contrihution to their Alma Mater, in order to carry out in full the aims and purposes of the insti- tution. XVith the publication of the Yearbook and other important activities in the hands of the Stu- dent Government, A. M. Rc N. is providing an environ- ment for learning in that she is promoting those ac- tivities that will develop her students into well-bal- anced personalities, clear and accurate thinkers, use- ful individuals, and effective leaders, who will assume the responsibilities of making life in America more enjoyable.
