ivee LLIEC. Fl Taste Elf Fl Different Life The third annual International Din- ner Saturday, March 5, in the Fuller- ton Union, again treated a sell-out crowd to spectacular hospitality, food and entertainment. Twenty- nine foods, representing the cuisine of 17 countries, satisfied the palate while international students pre- sented a variety of entertainment. The first performance was a symbol- ic dance by a single Laotian girl. After this, the French Club's skit, Chomp deElysees provided a break in the serious atmosphere with a storyline about an Arkansas tourist and a sophisticated French- man. Following, Gabriela Kinslow and Juan Frias gave a repeat perfor- mance of the Mexican Hat Dance. A Malaysian folk song by Hong Fatt Kok, followed. Eleven girls in richly colored sarongs danced to this song about the native white farangipania flower. A Laotian flutist then per- formed a selection conjuring'up vi- sions of misty green mountainsides and a simpler lifestyle, followed by Ba-bara dancing the Cane Dance, and areobic folk dance. The program continued as dessert was finished with Hisashi Sekine singing a Japanese folk song accom- panying himself on the guitar. Fol- lowing this, Palestinian Amin El Gha- zali performed an Arobi melody on the violin. Sekine and a friend Yu- taka Kazamaki then returned to sing two popular Crockb melodies on the guitar. Despite the great wealth of talent shown by all involved, the finale was the most memorable performance of the evening. Ba-Bara returned to do an Oriental Cabaret Dance and certainly capped off the evening in style. The international students, and oth- ers in the community, gave 180 peo- ple a glimpse into their native cul- tures, customs, foods. international counselor Jane Pryor had said be- fore the dinner, These students just love the chance to educate us about their cultures and lands. From the applause at the dinner, those in attendance loved it just as much. 29
