Composed of students from various colleges, classes, and student body governmental departments, Representative Council holds sessions to coordinate general activities, and to review grievances and suggestions from any group of students. REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL By a vote from the student body, the Representa- tive Council was created in the spring of 1957. The primary function of the Representative Council is to coordinate and plan general student body activities. The group also reviews problems, grievances or sug- gestions from any group on campus and makes neces- sary changes or modifications. Any campus group ' s suggestions or policies are first discussed and voted on before being sent to the Executive Council, where if passed, will become student body policy. Representative Council members are John Peek, Jim Ferguson, Ann Stevenson, Duke Patterson, James Carrillo, Burton Kinerk, Bon Richardson, Don Wright, Hank Winship, Lloyd Wiborg, John Jeffries, Bob Mills, Jay Jacobson, Sharon Rains, Margie Barrie, Janie Kay, Dick Nickey, Bob Hasseries, Ted Roberts, Larry Betts, Bill Ismay, Judy Clothier, Corky Olsen, Lou Crowder, Sue Pooler, Jerry Soma, Bill Varney, and Charles Tribolet. BON RICHARDSON REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL PRESIDENT Bon Richardson, president of Representative Council, is the group ' s official representative and a voting member of the Executive Council and the Student Union Activi- ties Board. Bon is a member of Bobcats and was named to Who ' s Who. 31

LOU CROWDER SENIOR COUNCILMAN Lou Crowder served as the senior councilman this year. He was also chairman of the Medals and Awards Committee, and was a member of the Academic Committee. He was a member of both Sophos and Chain Gang, and is a Bobcat, the senior men ' s honorary. This year h e was president of Phi Gamma Delta. AL CORKY OLSEN JUNIOR COUNCILMAN Al Corky Olsen, the other half of the junior councilman team, was president of the Sophomore class and a member of Sophos. He was also president of Phi Eta Sigma, the freshman men ' s scholastic honorary, and was secretary of Alpha Phi Omega, a national service fraternity. This year he was a member of Chain Gang and Traditions Committee. ASUA COUNCIL SUE POOLER JUNIOR COUNCILWOMAN Sue Pooler, the junior councilwoman, was a member of Spurs and vice president of the Sophomore Class last year. This year she was a member of Chimes, the junior women ' s honorary, and chairman of the Academic Committee. She also served as ASUA delegate to the Student Conference on National Affairs. JERRY SOMA JUNIOR COUNCILMAN Jerry Soma, junior councilman, was a member of Sophos, the sophomore men ' s honorary, last year, and was a member of the junior men ' s honorary, Chain Gang, this year. He is also a member of Pi Mu Epsilon, the math honorary. He served as a standing member of the Academic Committee, and was in charge of selection for Who ' s Who. 30

ASUA COMMITTEES ACADEMIC COMMITTEE Headed by Sue Pooler, the Academic Committee was established to further bet- ter student-faculty problems, and to be consultant in the development of Univer- sity curriculum. Mary Hawke, Sue, and ' Sandy Danzi- ger make a check of some of their duties. ELECTIONS COMMITTEE Bob Clements, Susan Robinson, and Jim Blom hold a serious discussion con- cerning campus election policies. The Election Committee, of which Bob is head, handles all phases of class, student body, and campus queen elections. This group complies with the election rules established by Executive Council. ASSEMBLIES COMMITTEE Jim Musgrove, chairman, Patsy Ack- ley, Lee Hanley, Suzie Dinsmore, and Sandi Wa.son pause for a moment after a day of providing talent for some Univer- sity functions. This group, composed of some 15 members, also plans special shows and keeps a record of campus talent. BOOKSTORE COMMITTEE To help students locate books and sup- plies in the campus bookstore is the job of Bookstore Committee members, Con- nie McCarroll, chairman, Tom Schatteles, Nancy Kelley, and Judee Brockelsby. An- other function of this group is to handle student suggestions about the bookstore. ARTIST SERIES COMMITTEE Sunny Lerner, Kathy Hayer, Sally Cline, and Dee Ann Gray gather around Anne DiCicco, chairman of Artist Series committee, to plan entertaining events for the students and faculty members of the University of Arizona. The scheduled musical and dramatic attractions are avail- able through registration fee payments. 32
