THE PRESIDENT Serving his first year as president of the university, Dr. James Byron McCormick has skillfully handled the many problems confronting the administration. With the increasing number of applications for enrollment, President McCormick is striving for expansion of housing facilities and academic improvements. He considers the relations l ctween the university and the public to l c of utmost importance, and he is constantly trying to letter this relationship. With his ability in administrative affairs and his interest in students and faculty alike, he has helped the university to take another step forward in education. Page 8

HOARD OF REGENTS Members of the board of resents of the university and state colleges of Arizona are, seated: Mrs. Catharine Robbins, a secretary; Mrs. Joseph Madison Greer; Linne D. Klemmedson; John M. Scott; Dr. J. Byron McCormick; Dr. Alfred Atkinson, executive adviser. Standing: Lynn M. Laney; Sam H. Morris, president; William R. Ellsworth; Cleon T. Knapp; Lacey A. Kastburn; and Clarence E. Houston. At the side of President McCormick is Dr. Robert Logan Nugent, who left his position as dean of the college of Liberal Arts to become vice-president of the University of Arizona. His interest lies in the enlargement and future development of academic work. I)r. Nugent’s duties arc to coordinate the work of the university’s departments, the facility, student body and to a large extent the alumni with the president’s office, and he assumes some responsibility in general public relations for the university. President McCormick and Dr. Nugent work hand in hand with the board of regents, which is the governing body of the University of Arizona and the state colleges at Tempe and Flagstaff.
