Students here work with in- ternationally known scientists such as Dr. Sydney Chapman, scientific leader of the International Geo- physical Year and author of a prize winning book. Much of their work is concerned with collecting and analyzing data measurable only by faint electronic impulses. At lower left is pictured a Whistler de- vice designed for recording impulses graphically. Rec- ords on paper tapes constitute much of the visual evidence from which the scientists and graduate stu- dents hypothesize.

The 30 inch Baker-Nunn satellite tracking camera being assembled, right, will probe the subarctic sky and will obtain precise positions of satellites which will be forwarded to our National Computing Centers.
