Today, the class is a wide-eyed and still somewhat confused group of people, with each looking for a place that now may only be a street with a number. That first year, we trudged to the bus stop at sunrise, and after a hard day in class, we trudged from the bus-stop at sundown. It could only happen to us. After classes had started, we became acquainted with something called the Dentex. We were informed that Dentex would be our playmate for at least the next six months and after that time, if we had successfully learned to mutilate him, we could start on real,-live patients. We'll always remember . . . Dr. Houston's practicals . . . Dr. Charlotte Schneyer's lectures, especially the one in verse . . . the cat that Martha brought to the dorm to study for the gross final . . . May's private', telephone and bathtub . . . the night Betty ironed the wall . . . Bryncy's sewing - Hbut why must it be so neat? . . . lroning lessons for Iris and Bev . . . Then suddenly, the year was finished and we were headed for home and a vacation, or a job, or just loafing. Soon the summer was over - the vacation ended, the job finished, and the loafing just stopped. It was September and time to get back to school. This time not wide-eyed, but still a little confused. Oh, joy!! . . . We had moved to civilization . . . we, living in the dorms on Twentieth Street. Our number had been reduced by five. Those five had decided to get an Mrs. instead of a D.H. Things were soon in order and we began seeing patients and going on assignments. This year more emphasis was put on practical work. Someone failed to inform the instructors. A good time was had by all at the party given by the A.D.H.A. at Avondale Villa. The Game from Damned Yankees has never been and probably never again will be presented as it was that night. When Spring came, thoughts occasionally turned to a more serious vein. Soon school would be out . . . Graduation, State Boards, and a job. We would take steps forward in achieving our goals. We'll remember most . . . the hours playing bridge . . . gab sessions on the front porch . . . the constant cry - Where,s the stopper . . . the expected from Dr. Volker . . . and Miss DeRing, what do you think?,' . . . Mr. Smith as late to class as often as we were . . . Public Health Trailer . . . Mimi's plans to study . . . and all the good times that we had . . . lt has been two years filled with worthwhile experiences. Now we can see the value of the constructive criticism given to us by Miss Sinnett, Miss Galbaugh and Mrs. Bloom. We feel that through the efforts of our instructors that we are ready to go ahead, but it is with reluctance that we leave.
