DR. GEORGE H. DENNY DR. DENNY Expansion from a student body of five hundred to one of eigfit thiousand; from a campus consisting of four major classroom buildings to a physical plant many times that large; from a mere bundle of bricks to its present position as the Capstone of Southern Education . . , are the changes that Dr. George H. Denny engineered during his reign as President and Chancellor of the University. Dr. Denny served the University as its President for twenty-five years until his retirement in 1937. At the death of President Richard C. Foster in 1942, he was recalled to the presidency for one year. Elected Chancellor of the University in 1937, Dr. Denny has never since lost contact with the Capstone. He is a frequent visitor to the campus and is still active in University affairs. Denny Chimes and Denny Stadium stand as constant reminders of one of the Capstone ' s most be- loved personalities, Mike Denny. Page 20
