A $200,000 annex to Farrah Hall was erected during the past year, to meet needs resulting from postwar enrollment increases. The three-story annex includes law offices, library stacks, reading room, and two large classrooms providing approximately 175 additional student seats. The Law Library now includes 21,000 volumes of the finest legal reference books available. During the past year Law School initiated semi-annual publication of the Alabama Law Review, a legal handbook distributed to the State Bar and to certain individuals outside Alabama. The Law Re- view is published by outstanding students chosen on scholarship basis.

Moore is Deon of the Graduate School, Head of the History Department, and Chairman of the Faculty Committee on Ath- letics. Development of graduate work at the University of Ala- bama during the past tv enty-five years has been one of the most significant developments in the history of the insti- tution. Through the Graduate School the University has made a great contribution to education and to cultural and economic development of the State. Graduate study has contributed a great deal of research by the faculty and students concerning economic, social, political, and educa- tional problems in Alabama. During the year ending June 1, 1949, more than 1700 students were enrolled.
