Though not a professional school, it has kept pace with scheme of modern education in its Curri- culum and teachings. lt provides a broad background of culture and training upon which the structure of a professional education will rest to the best advantage, as well as giving that sort of training calculated to make its students intelligent, liberal-minded, public- spirited citizens. Dams C. II. liARNWlEl.l. A.M., 1-n.o. Law School The School of Law is one of the oldest schools of the uni- versity, first opening its doors in 1845. That is has met the re- sponsibilities devolving upon it is evidenced by the great num- ber of distinguished members of the bench and bar it has furnished the state and nation. The School of Law is approved by the section of Legal lidu- cation of the American liar Associition, and is a member of the Association of American Law Schools. The Law School gives such training as will ht its students for the active duties ol the oflice and court room, at the same time impressing upon them an 'exalted idea of the ethics of their profession. At present only two years of medi- cine are taught, but the Alumni Association of the university and the State Medical Society are committed to the building of a four-year school and teaching hospital as soon as possible. Emphasis is placed not only on scholastic development, but to the building of character, integrity and purpose, native re- sourcefulness, good citizenship and professional usefulness.
