I . . . . . . gf Qi B the main divisions of the University. It was begun for the purpose of 1 A --s RQ al QED giving higher business training to the young men and young women of Ala- x9 f bama. Until it was opened, Alabamians had to go out of the state, to a W great distance, to secure such training as would fit them for executive posi- ' tions under the competitive conditions of today. TH The school has from the beginning met with the cordial support of the business leaders of the state, and has attracted large numbers of students. The graduates have gone into more than a dozen different branches of business. Happily, practically all of them have remained in Ala- bama. lll To lead in productive power, therefore, Alabama needs only the managerial. the directing. the risk-taking element. It must have men and women of enterprise, with the ability and the training to start, direct and carry on businesses of every kind. If these leaders of enterprise are to come from Alabama. our young people must have oppor- tunities for higher business training at home. The School of Commerce and Business Administration is furnishing these opportunities. It is, therefore, in a very true sense the key to the industrial future of our state. 4 we .cr n n n .rr a - s .aauleelallemmlmumnmlll' 'Wilwaudwzismobume r I ocxncqiolspqmq nqm ' 1' i ' . Its library contains more than six thousand volumes, mainly state and federal reports. On its faculty are three full-time and two part-time instructors. Ill During its life of nfty-two years this school has shown a steady advance in all its phases. In no wise has it been unmindful that its purpose is ro train men better ro serve our stare as members of its bench and bar.- lll For the future, an increased usefulness to the state is seen. The time is not long distant when a separate building will be provided for this school and when its requirements will be still more rigid: thus will an ever-increasing number of better trained legal minds be produced, to redound to the majesty of the courts and to the honor of Alabama.
