By 1949 Ayer Hall was being constructed. with Knight Chemistry Lab- yy ciratc-rv following the next year. The pace of cuzzszruction continued when Dr. Norman P. With the help of state aid, Akron has built the Gardner Stu- dent Center, Auburn Science and En- gineering Center, and Schrank Hall, while federal urban renewal opened the way for the formation of jackson Field. Akron is expanding the Gard- ner Student Center and is constructing the Performing Arts Center. This physical expansion has been paralleled by the expansion of the academic curriculum.
