IHRL ' Fall of l95O found the 32-voice mixed chorus singing Cindy, Get Along Home, and the girls' glee club echoing, Oh, Dear, What Can the Mat- ter Bel Mrs. Lindley had a ready answer-not enough tenors and basses! However, second se- mester one influential senior boy recruited two basses and five tenorsl Maybe it was just a coin- cidence that those personality girls, Unity's double-sextet, changed their tune from Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa' My Hair to Tea for Two! Highlights of vocal musical activities for the year were the Folk Lore Christmas Cantata pre- sented in candlelight by the mixed chorus, the Christmas Assembly by the girls' glee club, con- tests in March and April, and the County Music GLEE CLUB Festival. Other outstanding events were Open- house, All-State in November, the girls' glee club caroling trip to the county home, the Rocketet going high-brow at the University Dames' Club , the Double-Sextet at the senior play, at Lions Club in Tolono, at Boosters' Club at Philo, at the County Boy Scout Council's meeting, etc, always singingl singing! singingl Not to be overlooked was the girls' glee club Christmas party-a big success. The organizations showed initiative and a con- genial spirit among their members which resulted in fine cooperation. The vocal groups were for- tunate to have several outstanding solo voices which were heard frequently during the year. All in all, it was a successful gold star l95O-5l for Unity's mixed chorus and girls' glee club.
